poglądając na stare fotografie, widzimy zabudowany plac zwężający się w kie-
runku północnym z wieżą kościoła p.w. św. Wojciecha w tle. To miejsce to
Nowy Rynek (niem. Neuer Markt). Po pożarze w 1746 r. plac ten został wy-
znaczony jako nowe, tymczasowe miejsce targowe, które równocześnie funk-
cjonowało wraz ze starym miejscem handlowym, zwanym do dziś Słomianym
Rynkiem.

ooking at old photographs, we see a square built, tapering towards the north
tower of the church of St. Wojciech in the background. This place is New
Market (German Neuer Markt). After the fire in 1746, this square was desig-
nated as the new temporary commercial place, which simultaneously functioned
with the old place of trade, called Straw Market today.

ördlich von der Hl. Adalbert Kirche kommt die Straße Nowy Rynek (Neuer Markt).
Das war auch ein Neuer Markt genannter Platz, auf demMarkt abgehalten wurde. Die-
selbe Rolle spielte die Straße Słomiany Rynek (Strohmarkt).
Karta pocztowa z okresu I wojny światowej przedstawia widok Nowego Rynku w kierunku południowym. W opisie
karty zakradł się błąd. Określenie Marktplatz dotyczy obecnego pl. Hallera, natomiast Nowy Rynek to Neuer Markt.
A postcard fromWorld War I shows a view of the New Market to the south. In the description of the card a mistake
was made. The term Marktplatz refers to the current Hallera Square, and New Market is Neuer Markt.
