a dawnej podwójnej działce, na której obecnie stoi dom han-
dlowy, wybudowano piętrowy budynek, którego elewacja
frontowa przypominała dwa bliźniacze budynki. W budynku tym
w 1897 r. z inicjatywy działaczy Towarzystwa Rolniczego powoła-
na została spółka kredytowa, przekształcona z czasem w Bank Lu-
dowy. W 1937 r. prezesem rady nadzorczej banku był Kazimierz
Życki. W budynku przylegającym do Banku Ludowego w okresie
międzywojennym funkcjonował sklep „BAZAR”. Sąsiedni budy-
nek o ściętym narożniku od strony dzisiejszej ul. Kościelnej zajmo-
wały drukarnia i księgarnia Paula Krykanta – wydawcy m.in. wielu
lidzbarskich kart pocztowych. W 1903 r. w Lidzbarku pojawiły się
lampy gazowe, dwie z nich stanęły właśnie w Rynku. W 1912 r. na
terenie miasta zainstalowano kilka hydrantów. Jeden z nich posta-
wiono m.in. w północno-wschodnim narożniku Rynku.

n the old double plot, on which now stands a department store,
a multi-storey construction was built whose front elevation
resembled two identical buildings. In this building in 1897, on
the initiative of the Agricultural Society, there was a credit com-
pany established, transformed into the People’s Bank. In 1937,
the chairman of the board of the bank was Kazimierz Zycki. In
the building adjacent to the People’s Bank functioned a shop
“BAZAR” in the interwar period. In the neighbouring building
with a cut-off corner, facing today’s Koscielna Street there were
a printing company and a bookshop owned by Paul Krykant – the
publisher of many postcards from Lidzbark. In 1903 in Lidzbark
occured gas lamps, two of them just were located in the Market. In
1912, in the town a few hydrants were installed. One of them was
erected in the north- east corner of the Square.

uf dem Grudstück am Marktplatz, auf dem heute ein Waren-
haus steht, wurde einmal ein einstöckiges Gebäude errichtet,
in dem 1897 eine Kreditgesellschaft ihren Sitz hatte. Dann wur-
de sie durch die Initiative der Landwirtschaftlichen Gesellschaft
in eine Volksbank umgewandelt. Einer der Vorsitzenden des Auf-
sichtsrates war 1937 Kazimierz Zycki. In der Zwischenkriegszeit
gab es an der heutigen Straße Kościelna (am Marktplatz) eine
Druckerei (Ansichtskarten von Lidzbark) und eine Buchhand-
lung von Paul Krykant.
Obok zawodów i pokazów gimnastycznych T.G. „Sokół” organizowało również zawody lekkoatle-
tyczne. Konkurencję biegową przedstawia fotografia z okresu międzywojennego.
